Home networking

Page history last edited by Paul G. Taylor 12 years, 9 months ago

I am in the process of setting up a home network with a mixture of wired and wireless devices attached.

The aim of this process is to have all devices available to anyone on the network, including a printer and an external USB hard drive.

I managed to achieve all these objectives for my sister's home network after a new combined modem/router wired/wireless from her ISP was installed. This configured itself automatically and solved all the problems!

Remote Configuration. (Suggested)

Remote management allows the WRT 120N to be configured from the Internet by a web browser.

A username and password is still required to access the Web-Management interface.

In general, only a member of your network can browse the built-in web pages to perform Administrator tasks.

This feature enables you to perform Administrator tasks from the remote (Internet) host.

Also, use the browser interface to save current settings and then
reset the router to ensure that it is starting with factory settings.

Restore to Factory Default Settings:

This option will restore all configuration settings back to the settings that were in effect at the time the router was shipped from the factory.

Any settings that have not been saved will be lost, including any rules that you have created. If you want to save the current router configuration settings, use the Save button above
